RULES MEETING & DINNER: [DAY, DATE, TIME]
Join volunteers and staff at the Country Club of Buffalo to review the golf course, the Rules and the plan for the week. If you can't attend, a PDF of the presentation will be emailed to the group. Please review it carefully.

ASSIGNMENTS
Hole and shift assignments will be emailed and posted here [day]. If your availability changes, please contact Mike Dirkes.

ARRIVAL & CHECK-IN
Check in at volunteer registration before each shift. The location is TBA and will likely be near the practice putting green. You'll pick up your volunteer packet and radio, golf carts will be staged and available by the pro shop. Return your cart and radio immediately after your shift ends.

GOLF CARTS
A reminder to not drive golf carts in any native areas (grass longer than rough height) and at least 10-15 yards away from bunkers, tees, and putting greens. Golf carts must be stored at the golf shop when not in use.

CCB CLUB VOLUNTEERS
CCB members will help with spotting and player registration during each shift. Introduce yourself to the club volunteers on your assigned holes and help with any questions. Coverage is light on some shifts, especially the Monday and Tuesday mornings, so you may be asked to cover more than one hole or move as needed. Club volunteer assignments are posted on the
Club Volunteer page.

LUNCH
Lunch is served in the clubhouse from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. On Monday, there should be 30-40 minutes between waves to grab a quick lunch.

WEATHER
October in Buffalo can change quickly, so be prepared and dress in layers:

  • Bring rain gear, waterproof shoes and an umbrella.
  • If play is suspended, follow radio instructions and help clear players and club volunteers from the course. Make sure club volunteers on your holes get a ride in if they need one.
  • The NYSGA will text and email all volunteers about weather delays and schedule changes.

KEY REMINDERS

  • Radios: Keep your radio on and charged. Bring a phone charger.
  • Pace of play: (1) Keep flag times for each group on your hole and report any group unusually behind their time and/or out of position and (2) if no group is on your hole when they should be, report this to the OIC and drive your cart to find where they are located.
  • Carts: Are stored at the pro shop including when you come back to the clubhouse for lunch. If play is discontinued, please drive players back to the clubhouse first - do not let anyone ride on the back of the cart.
  • Emergencies: Provide assistance (if needed), then call 911 for anything potentially serious, then radio NYSGA staff.

COMMUNICATIONS
The NYSGA will send daily reminders and updates by email and text through this Golf Genius portal.
